Sam Corio: From Near-Death Experience to IFBB Pro

In the world of competitive bodybuilding, few stories hit as hard as Sam Corio’s. The British bodybuilder went from a near-death to the professional stage in just a few intense years.

A former boxing and MMA enthusiast, Corio first stepped on stage at a UKBFF Men’s Physique show around 2015–2016. For years, he trained seriously but never fully committed to bodybuilding—until a motorcycle accident in April 2022 left him in a coma. He later described the crash "the best thing that ever happened to me."

That close call flipped a switch. Corio returned hungrier, more focused, and determined to persue Open bodybuilding with everything he had.

He steadily improved, and during his second competitive season, he secured strong placings, including a runner-up finish in the Super-Heavyweight Class at the NPC Vitae Plant Classic 2025. Then, in November 2025, at the Champions Golden Cup Pro Qualifier in Poland, Corio took first in the Men’s Bodybuilding Super-Heavyweight division and earned his IFBB Pro Card.

At 29 when he turned pro, Corio already possessed the size and structure of a serious Open contender. He now offers online coaching while continuing to built his physique ahead of his professional debut, with his sights set on the Olympia stage in the longer term.

Sam Corio’s journey is a powerful reminder that setbacks can become fuel for something greater—from surviving a coma to becoming an IFBB Pro.
