Roger Tanner was born in Switzerland in 1973 and currently lives in the canton of St. Gallen on Lake Constance. He has been involved in sports his entire life, including ice hockey, skateboarding, judo, karate, Thai boxing, skiing, snowboarding, motorsport, and bodybuilding.
At the age of 16, he took a bench from his grandfather and started working out. After three years of training at a simple gym, he preferred to change his training location and started working out at a gym where there were bodybuilders. There, he learned a lot, as he said, while his diet included oatmeal, eggs, rice, broccoli, and chicken.
Professionally, after finishing school, he became self-employed and entered into a 50% partnership in a nightclub. Later, his former partner took over the remaining 50% of the partnership. However, the long nights and associated gastronomic lifestyle no longer fit with the sport, which became increasingly important to him. He then got a job as a car salesman with an acquaintance and he was able to live and implement his sport much better. In 2002, he competed in his first competitions and opened his first Body Power Gym in Matzingen and later in other cities. Roger Tanner won the IFBB Elite Pro Card in 2019.
